Cheap Dienmern DM125 Air Quality Monitor

How does a cheap Chinese meter hold up against the top-tier Swiss IQAir AirVisual air quality monitor? It’s a bit like Dacia vs Lexus. Dacia, meaning cheap and good enough (nothing to write home about, but gets the job done). Below you’ll find videos and a table  with my rating of the Dienmern DM125 monitor.

Dienmern DM125: Budget Air Monitor Review: Cheap Chinese monitor compared against Swiss IQAir AirVisual; Good enough for home use, a bargain at ~200 PLN; CO2 measurement rated 10/10, humidity 9/10; Temperature 7/10, resolution only whole degrees; PM2.5 measurement weaker, rated 5/10; Poor manufacturer support and limited historical data

In short: Dienmern is good enough for home use. For pro work, the measurement accuracy could be a bit better, but at this price for home use, it’s  practically a steal. Further down the article is a table where

Below is a link to the Dienmern DM125 monitor purchased on AliExpress, where it’s exceptionally cheap  even around 200 PLN! (compared to other platforms) For what this monitor delivers, it’s a bargain.

Update: the DM125 offer on AliExpress has expired. I use this 8-in-1 Tuya WiFi monitor instead and find it good enough to recommend as an alternative to the DM125: Amazon.pl | AliExpress

  Scale 1-10 Comment – data
Name Dienmern DM125
Temperature measurement 7 Measurement resolution down to whole degrees
Humidity measurement 9 Reportedly +/-4% accuracy
CO2 carbon dioxide measurement 10
PM2.5 particulate measurement 5
Measurement visualization
User recommendations, meaning data analysis  by the monitor 6 Recommendations are a bit unintuitive and based on  “Asian” air quality standards
Manufacturer support 2 No manufacturer website, forum, only
Historical data  4

Historical data can only be viewed on the monitor itself. It is a bit unintuitive

Remote access 0(7)  Current versions feature Wi-Fi connectivity and Tuya app )
Battery life 9 over 8 hrs on battery! At high brightness – a very good result
Noise 5 You can only hear the monitor’s fan in complete silence.  There is  a quiet humming. During the day  it doesn’t bother you, but being up close, the hum might get annoying
Build quality Durability 6

It’s fine, nothing crazy, built properly. Gives the impression of a reasonably solid piece of kit.

A good Dacia among monitors 😉

Power consumption 8 2.5-3 W during battery charging and operation
Checking the measurement accuracy of the AirVisual and Dienmern air quality monitors

The one I recommend, hands down the best (hard to find in stock because it is niche): IQAir AirVisual Pro on Amazon.pl.
